Miss Rodeo Nevada 2016

Jasmyne Herrera

Jasmyne Herrera is a 19-year old native Nevadan who resides in her hometown of Winnemucca. She is a sophomore at Great Basin College where she is working towards an Associate Degree in Engineering and plans to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in Geothermal Engineering from University of Nevada at Reno.

Jasmyne enjoys staying active and loves snowboarding, volleyball, basketball and riding her dressage horse, Isadoro and her Quarter Horse, Fluffy. Additionally, she competes in the 250 women’s motocross class and is the secretary and treasurer of the Winnemucca Motocross club.

The poem called “Don’t Quit” by Edgar Guest inspires Jasmyne to follow her dreams and aspirations:

When things go wrong, as they sometime will.
When the road you are trudging seems all uphill.
When the funds are low, and the debts are high.
When you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit.
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.

In December 2016, Jasmyne will represent the Silver State at the 2017 Miss Rodeo America Pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada.
