Miss Rodeo Nevada queens

melissa_cookMelissa is a 21 year old junior at the University of Nevada Reno that was born and raised in the Sparks, Nevada.

She won her state title in April 2002 and this past December she represented the State of Nevada in the Miss Rodeo America pageant – held in Las Vegas prior to the start of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

At The Miss Rodeo America Pageant, not only was Melissa a TOP 10 FINALIST but she was also the recipient of the Western Regional Scholarship. This $1,000 educational scholarship was awarded to Melissa because she accumulated more points during the pageant than any other state in the Western Region, yet was not a top 5 finisher.

This past year Melissa has traveled the West representing her home state of Nevada at major rodeos and events – including the Cheyenne Frontier Days the PRCA Hall of Fame Induction’s and the Nevada Day Parade in Carson City.

Melissa speaks fluent Spanish, and after graduating from Reed High School in 1999, she spent a year as a Rotary Exchange Student in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Melissa will crown her successor – Miss Rodeo Nevada 2003 – in just a few weeks at the annual pageant held in conjunction with the Clark County Fair and Rodeo in Logandale, Nevada.
